It is with profound sadness that the family of Alicia Rosario Santiago announces her passing on September 8, 2025, in Newark, New Jersey at the age of 85. Born on April 11, 1940, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, to Julio Santiago and Basilisa Bonilla, Alicia was known for her contagious joy, her unwavering kindness, and her love of life.

Though Alicia’s life was marked by trials and hardships, she met each challenge with unwavering courage and grace. She was a woman who did not flinch in the face of adversity, standing tall and pressing forward with a heart full of faith and hope. Her strength was not loud, but it was mighty. Even in moments of illness and pain, Alicia chose joy. She accepted her ailments not as defeat, but as part of her sacred journey, proving herself a true warrior in spirit.

She lived not for herself, but for those she loved. Every sacrifice, every sleepless night, every quiet act of service was a testament to her devotion. Her life was full, not because it was easy, but because it was poured out in love. Her legacy is one of perseverance, tenderness, and radiant humanity. 

She is survived by her children, Frankie, Lourdes, Nancy, Diana, David, Andy, her beloved granddaughter Ali, her grandchildren, siblings, and other close relatives, each of whom carries her legacy in their hearts. 

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation/wake services to be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.at Funeraria Alvarez, Inc. located at 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic, New Jersey.

In accordance with her wishes and the love that surrounds her, Alicia Rosario Santiago will be cremated. Her ashes will be laid to rest in the sacred grounds of Getsemaní Cemetery, nestled near Yauco, Puerto Rico, her birthplace of peace and heritage, where her memory will be honored and her spirit forever embraced. 

Alicia’s memory will live on in the stories we share, the memories she forged, and the love she gave so freely. Her light remains with us.

Con profunda tristeza, la familia de Alicia Rosario Santiago anuncia su fallecimiento el 8 de septiembre de 2025 en Newark, Nueva Jersey, a la edad de 85 años. Nacida el 11 de abril de 1940 en Yauco, Puerto Rico, hija de Julio Santiago y Basilisa Bonilla, Alicia fue conocida por su alegría contagiosa, su bondad inquebrantable y su amor por la vida. 

Aunque la vida de Alicia estuvo marcada por pruebas y dificultades, enfrentó cada desafío con valentía y gracia. Fue una mujer que nunca se dejó vencer por la adversidad, que se mantuvo firme y siguió adelante con un corazón lleno de fe y esperanza. Su fortaleza no era ruidosa, pero sí poderosa. Incluso en momentos de enfermedad y dolor, Alicia eligió la alegría. Aceptó sus males no como derrota, sino como parte de su viaje sagrado, demostrando ser una verdadera guerrera de espíritu. 

Vivió no para sí misma, sino para aquellos a quienes amaba. Cada sacrificio, cada noche en vela, cada acto silencioso de servicio fue testimonio de su entrega. Su vida fue plena, no por ser fácil, sino porque fue derramada en amor. Su legado es de perseverancia, ternura y humanidad radiante. 

Le sobreviven sus hijos Frankie, Lourdes, Nancy, Diana, David, Andy, su adorada nieta del alma Ali, sus nietos, biznietos, tataranietos, hermanos y demás familiares cercanos, cada uno de los cuales lleva su legado en el corazón. 

Familiares y amigos están invitados a rendirle homenaje durante los servicios de velorio que se llevarán a cabo el viernes 12 de septiembre de 2025, de 5:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., en Funeraria Álvarez, Inc., ubicada en el 66 de Passaic Avenue, Passaic, Nueva Jersey. 

De acuerdo con sus deseos y el amor que la rodea, Alicia Rosario Santiago será cremada. Sus cenizas serán depositadas en los terrenos sagrados del Cementerio Getsemaní, ubicado en las cercanías de Yauco, Puerto Rico, su lugar de nacimiento, sitial de paz y legado, donde su memoria será honrada y su espíritu eternamente abrazado. 

La memoria de Alicia vivirá siempre en las historias que compartimos, en las memorias que forjó y en el amor que entregó con generosidad. Su luz permanece con nosotros.
