Brenda Ruth Gillespie

Brenda Ruth Gillespie (nee Price) was born in Manhattan, NY on May 7, 1955. She was raised by her father, Joseph Price, and mother, Ruby Price, who resided in Camden, NJ.

Brenda attended elementary school in Camden, NJ before relocating to Paterson, NJ, where she attended John F. Kennedy High School. Brenda met Jerry Gillespie and had two daughters Shontell & Jerrilove Gillespie. Brenda and Jerry parted ways in 1973. Brenda later met Michael Herndon and gave birth to a son, Michael Herndon Gillespie.

Brenda was employed by Children’s Place in Wayne, NJ for many years. She then moved on to Popular Club Plan located in Passaic, NJ where she was a supervisor for many years. She also was later employed by Kohl’s in Clifton, NJ where she served as a beloved supervisor for many years. Brenda went on to work at CVS located in Clifton, NJ where she held a supervisor position for six years. Brenda then relocated to Pennsylvania where she retired from CVS and lived out her retirement years with her son, Michael, & family.

Brenda was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Ruby Price and grandson: Shafonn K Wertz. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Shontell & Jerrilove Gillespie and son: Michael Herndon Gillespie (Tennille), five grandchildren: Skyler, Jazmann, Milira, Stefonn and Heaven: ten great-grandchildren and a host of beloved sister/friends and her beloved dog companion named Foo-G.

Brenda touched our lives immensely and there are no words to convey our love for her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10th, 2023 from 5:00pm-9:00pm in Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ. Entombment will take place on Friday, August 11th, 2023 at 10:30am in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton NJ.
