Carlina Gomez (95) of Cedar Grove but a long time resident of Woodland Park, NJ, passed away on Sunday, September 17th, 2017 at Arbor Glen Nursing Home. Born in Colombia to Marco Gomez and Josefa Hernandez. She came to the United States in 1972. She worked as a seamstress for a high end bridal store in Newark for many years. She retired and continued to be a seamstress out of her home up until 2007. Carlina was full of life and loved life. She had a smile and personality that could light up a room. She enjoyed socializing and loved her family. She is survived by her sisters, nieces and nephews; Maria Jafisa Gomez, Maria de Jesus, Johanna Escobar , Amanda Wood, Bertha Lucia Leon, Amparo Quiroz, Adolfo Leon, Carlos Leon. She was preceded in death by her husband Luis Gomez and sisters Bertha Leon and Graciela Gomez. She resided and enjoyed every moment of her last years prior to the nursing home with the Escobar family. She always wanted to be remembered as a half glass full kind of person who was always smiling. Carla will be forever remembered by her nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. So for now, its a see you later, because I know we will meet you again one day. Rest in peace. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 from 6-9pm in Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 at 10:00am in St. Philip the Apostle Parish, 797 Valley Road, Clifton NJ 07013. Cremation is private.
