Carmen Quiles

Carmen Quiles (85) of Passaic & Lajas Candelaria, Puerto Rico, passed away on January 7th, 2023. Carmen was born on March 17, 1937 in Lajas, Puerto Rico to the late Pedro Antonio Cancel and Rosa Cancel (nee Cruz Medina) of Puerto Rico. She attended PCCC in Paterson and worked as a seamstress for most of her life in Passaic. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where she was part of their choir and was very deeply involved with the church.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Celestino Quiles; Sister, Maria Cancel; and Brother, Pedro Cancel. Carmen is survived by her children, Richard Quiles, Nancy Quiles Hernandez, and Frank Quiles.

Carmen will be forever cherished by her grandchildren, Tenesha Quiles, Mallory M. Perez, Samuel Hernandez, Jr., Nicholas C. Hernandez; her great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives. She will be remembered for her smile and laughter. Her legacy will carry on forever through her family reminding us to choose to live a life of meaning.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12th, 2023 from 5:00pm-9:00pm in Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 13th, 2023 at 10:00am in St. Nicholas Church, 153 Washington Place, Passaic NJ. Burial, to follow, at 11:15am in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton NJ.
