Domingo Amante

Domingo Amante, lovingly known as Papi, Mingo, and Mingito, passed away on February 25, 2026. He was born on November 26, 1944, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and spent most of his life in Paterson, New Jersey, where he built a life centered on family and friendship.

Domingo was a generous and strong-willed man who did things his way and loved deeply. His greatest joy was his family. He made it a point to visit or call his children and grandchildren every week, creating bonds and memories that will last forever. Time spent with Papi was filled with laughter, playful arguments, and the kind of love that only a close family can understand.

He was famous for his domino games and was always ready to lock the game or surprise everyone with a Capi. He loved dancing to salsa, merengue, or bachata, enjoying life in the way he knew best. He also found simple pleasure in sitting back with a sip of Bacardi, sharing stories, and being surrounded by the people he loved.

Domingo had a big heart and was always willing to help his neighbors and friends. His presence was constant, his routines dependable, and his love for his family was never-ending.

He is survived by his family, all who brought immense joy and pride to his life: His beloved children, Anthony Amante and his wife Yadira, Domingo Amante Jr. and his wife Damayra, Martina Cuevas and her husband Jorge, and Alberto Amante and his wife Yuris. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Anthony Jr., Kiara, Romeo, Jaelynn, Yuliana, Isabella, Alberto Jr., Kayden, Ethan, Karlos, and Jonael. He is also survived by his brother Jorge from New Jersey and siblings Ruben, Julia, and Rosa from Puerto Rico.

He also leaves behind Ramona, with whom he shared many years of marriage and a lasting bond of friendship, and his stepson Aneudy and family, all of whom held a special place in his life.

Domingo shared a lifelong connection and close friendship with Carlos and Aristea Torres, who remained a constant source of support, love, and companionship throughout the years.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Our hearts are broken, but we are grateful for the love, laughter, music, and memories he gave us. His presence, his voice, and his weekly visits or phone calls will be missed beyond words.

Visitation services for Domingo Amante will be held at Alvarez Funeraria Inc, located at 66 Passaic Ave, Passaic, NJ 07055. The visitation is scheduled to take place on February 28, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 3:00 PM.
