Esther Lavi

Esther Lavi-Tolentino (70), affectionately known as "MaMa", of Passaic NJ, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Born on December 16, 1943 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, Esther came to the US in 1960. She was employed as a factory worker for 27 years at Finkel Outdoors Co. in Garfield NJ. Beloved mother of Anthony Garcia and Elizabeth "Tita" Garcia. Loving and supportive grandmother to Anthony Jovan Garcia, Edward & Edwin Garcia and Gilbert Irizzary Jr. and also to Edgar Garcia who's dedication, loving affection and nurturing care for MaMa will be forever appreciated and will never be forgotten. Esther is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Tristan, Omar, Zulay, and Devin. Esther blessed us all with her loving friendship and wonderful spirit and her ability to treat friends like her own family. Friends are invited to visit with family at Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ on Sunday May 18th, 2014 from 2pm - 6pm. Family and friends are gathering at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 19th, 2014 at the funeral home and will be immediately followed by Internment at East Ridgelawn Cemetery at 10:30 am, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton NJ.
