James Conrad “Jim” Spaeth, 77, died on Monday, May 30, 2022 in Passaic, New Jersey.
He was born on April 22, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York where he resided for 75 years. As a teen and young adult, Jim was a gymnast and excelled in the still rings and enjoyed singing Doo-wop with his buddies on the corners of Brooklyn.
In 1965, James was drafted into the 60th Aviation Company U.S. Army as a Petroleum Storage Specialist. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he moved back to Brooklyn where he was a jack of all trades and enjoyed working with his hands. With his knowledge and interest in all levels of building trades, Jim found a career in Building Maintenance/Property Management. You would be able to find him every Saturday morning at the local flea market haggling for a good deal, “never pay their price.” He was an avid stamp and coin collector and enjoyed tinkering in his workshop.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet, nee Swart, his sons James T. Spaeth and his fiancé, Adriana Mannino, and Jason Spaeth and his wife, Maryann Capursi, his grandchildren, Sierra, Zaylie and Lucas Spaeth and bonus grandchild, Juan Cordero.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 3rd, 2022 from 5 pm - 9 pm at Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Ave. Passaic, New Jersey 07055.
Cremation is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of James C. Spaeth to embrella.org to help local foster children achieve their dreams and wishes.
