Janet Marion Spaeth

Janet Marion Spaeth (nee Swart), 75, passed away in the early morning hours on Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Passaic, New Jersey.

Janet was born on June 9, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York to the late J. Raymond and Mildred (nee Gamble) Swart. She was predeceased by the untimely death of her younger brother, John R. Swart, Jr. Janet grew up in Valley Stream Long Island where she enjoyed making memories with her brother. As a young woman, she always loved music and dance. Against her parents’ wishes, Janet took the love of music and embarked on a short career in dance where she and her late husband, James C. Spaeth crossed paths. After marrying the love of her life, she began working in Human Resources for an insurance firm in New York. After the birth of her first son, she devoted her life to her family as a stay at home mother. She enjoyed taking her sons to Orlando, Florida to visit her mother every summer. Janet’s life became much more fulfilling with the birth of her grandchildren. Janet enjoyed gardening, painting, cross stitching, embroidery, and needlepoint. She also enjoyed couponing and was always on the hunt for a good deal. She would start her Christmas shopping early and would be very generous in her gift giving.

Janet is survived by her sons, James T. Spaeth and his wife, Adriana, and Jason Spaeth and his wife, Maryann Capursi, her grandchildren, Sierra (Sawyer), Zaylie, and Lucas Spaeth and bonus grandchildren, Juan (JP) Cordero, Steven and Victoria Mannino.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 from 1:00pm - 5:00pm at Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ. Cremation is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of Janet Spaeth to Complete Care Chestnut Hill. Janet was a resident of Chestnut Hill and absolutely loved and looked forward to the activities and parties provided by the Nursing Home. They kept her dancing!
