Jose De Jesus Tejada

Jose De Jesus Tejada (Cijito), 87, of Paterson, New Jersey entered God’s kingdom on Sunday, June 25th, 2023. He was born in Dominican Republic on September 19th, 1935 to parents Ernestina and Jose Tejada.

Jose was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his sons Nelson, Luis Miguel, and Jose. His daughters Maria, Sergia, and Miguelina. His grandsons Kevin, Nelson Jr., Jose, Rafael, and Andy. His granddaughters Waleska, Jeimy, Michelle, Massiel, and Amanda. And his great-grandchildren Camila, Elsa, Alejandro, Marcos, Andrei, Adrian, Adrianna, Daniel, Kaira, and Dominick.

Jose was a policeman in the Dominican Republic in the late 50s and early 60s. Jose met the love of his life, Elsa and the woman who would stand by his side through every storm in 1966 in Rio Piedra, Puerto Rico, where they had both immigrated. Jose left Puerto Rico and moved to New Jersey looking for a better future for his family. He worked tirelessly to become a businessman in his community. He owned a grocery store for over 20 years that helped raise his family. He was a simple man focused on providing his children and grandchildren with the best life possible without worrying about himself. Jose lived the true American dream.

Jose had a natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation. He was a man who helped everyone no matter who you were; if it were within his reach, he would get it done. He was a man of integrity who was respected and loved by everyone in his famly and community. His smile was transferrable to everyone around him and if you knew him, he was always "fine."

Jose was a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever be engrained in everyone who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Ave, Passaic, NJ 07055 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023. Burial will take place in Cementerio Fuente de Luz, in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
