Jose Oscar Castro, born on October 17, 1941, in Lares, Puerto Rico, passed away on March 3, 2026.

Jose Oscar Castro , also known as “Oscar” was a deeply loved and respected husband, father, and grandfather who passed away surrounded by the family he cherished. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, one of ten children, he carried a lifelong sense of unity, loyalty, responsibility, and love that shaped the devoted and hardworking man he became. He is survived by his loving wife, six children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a large extended family who will forever honor his memory.

Jose had an extraordinary heart—always ready to help anyone in need. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched countless lives. He faced cancer and other health challenges with remarkable courage, resilience, and dignity, bringing comfort, humor, and hope even in difficult times.

After coming to the United States in search of opportunity, Jose built a life defined by perseverance and pride. He worked as a personal chauffeur for 25 years and also served his community as a business bodega owner and co-owner of Mayaguezano social club , truck and limo driver, landscaper, and more—always willing to lend a hand. He loved the outdoors like planting vegetables, fishing, dancing, and sharing joyful moments with family and friends.

José’s charisma, laughter, and loving spirit will live on in all who knew him. His greatest wish was unity within his family, and his legacy of love, strength, and joy will continue to shine through them forever.

Visitation will be held on March 12, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Alvarez Funeraria Inc, located at 66 Passaic Ave, Passaic, NJ 07055. A Mass will take place on March 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church, situated at 681 Main Street, Paterson, NJ 07503. Following the Mass, burial services will commence at 11:45 AM at Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Road, Totowa, NJ 07512.
