Juana DeCastro was born in Pimentel, Dominican Republic to the late Damian and Lydia DeCastro on February 6th, 1948. She was the oldest of ten children. Juana departed this life on August 19, 2025 at the age of 77 surrounded by a host of family and loved ones.
Juana was educated in Pimentel, Dominican Republic and later relocated to the United States to provide a better life for her children. Seeking security for her family, she made a home in Anchorage, Alaska, where she lived for several years, achieving her goal of becoming a United States citizen. Determined to make a life for herself and her children in America, she worked diligently for the Sheraton Hotel as a room attendant for many years.
Full of laughter and always vibrant, Juana was the life of every family gathering. She could usually be found on the dance floor showing off her moves, even in her older age. While she could out dance anyone, she also loved cooking for family and friends. She was known for her famous spaghetti and Sancocho.
Juana is survived by her loving children William (Mary) , Jaime, and Wanda (Alex); her sisters Carmen, Ana Lucia, Maria, and Rafaela; her brothers Roque, Isidro, Victor, and Rafael; her grandchildren Samantha, Genesis, Samuel, Deborah, Kimberly, Joseph, Eshelle, Jonathan and Alexander; and many nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her son Joel Julianis and sisters Aurora and brother Nicasio.
While she spent her last few years in a nursing home, striving to heal from a stroke, she made the life-changing decision to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. It is the joy of her family that she will experience peace, ever-lasting life, and no more pain.
