In Loving Memory of Leni Maria Guembes Byrne of VonKomarnicki

March 16, 1953 – September 28, 2024

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Leni Maria Guembes Byrne of VonKomarnicki on September 28, 2024, at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey, due to a prolonged cardiovascular condition.

Born on March 16, 1953, in Peru, Leni was the youngest of five siblings and the beloved daughter of Maria Luisa Byrne Valcárcel and Carlos Alberto Guembes Vidaurre.

Leni is survived by her devoted husband, Roman VonKomarnicki; her loving daughter, Jennifer Stephanie; her son-in-law, Eddie; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Orlando, and Ariella; and three great-grandchildren, Harrison, Mateo, and Benjamin, with two more great-grandchildren on the way—twins Simon and Lyla Elena Leni.

Leni’s education began at Saint Mary’s Children in Barranco, Lima, Peru. As a young woman, she worked for San Marcos University before moving to Canada, where her daughter Jennifer was born in 1976. In 1980, she relocated to New Jersey, and after the tragic loss of her first husband in 1984, she devoted herself entirely to raising and educating her daughter.

In 1987, Leni found love once again with Roman VonKomarnicki, who became her devoted partner and the love of her life. Leni had a successful 25-year career at TEVA Pharmaceuticals in Fairfield, New Jersey, where she was a respected team leader and supervisor.

Beyond her professional success, Leni was a pillar in the Peruvian community of New Jersey. For more than 30 years, she served with passion as a member of the Comité Regional PAP, the Peruvian Parade, and the Coalition of Peruvian Leaders and Institutions. Her community work was extensive, ranging from organizing social services for immigrants to leading toy drives and collecting food and clothing for those in need. Through these efforts, she touched countless lives and earned the admiration and respect of all who knew her.

Leni will always be remembered as a compassionate leader with an extraordinary heart, always putting others before herself. Her legacy of love, generosity, and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

We love you, Leni. Rest in peace. May the Lord welcome you into His eternal glory.
