Lucille McKinney

Lucille Mckinney was born on June 2, 1958 in Passaic, New Jersey to the late James Grier Sr. and Thelma Grier. A proud Passaic native Lucille received her education in the Passaic School System and carried that foundation with her throughout her life.

Lucille dedicated over two decades of her life to healthcare, beginning her career at Passaic General Hospital in the dietary department. Through hard work, consistency, and determination, she earned several promotions and eventually became a Medical Records Analyst. After leaving Passaic General, she continued her work in healthcare at South Mountain Rehabilitation and Park Crescent Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she built lasting friendships and was deeply respected. To Lucille, work was never just a job-it was a place where relationships mattered.

Lucille lived with style, confidence, and personality. A true fashionista, she never wore the same outfit twice and always made an entrance. She loved to look good and feel good, and if you didn't know -she'd let you know with a smile "If you don't know you better Google me". Her presence was bold, unforgettable, and full of life.

Above all, Lucille loved her family fiercely. She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters Tonoah Grier and Carmisha Grier who were the pride of her life; one son-in-law Barry Carter Sr. Five grandchildren, Myasia Birks, Helena Drain-Carter, Jada Fleurimond, Barry Carter Jr. (BJ) and Holland Johnson who brought her endless joy. Four brothers Jimmy, Howie, Russell and Warren and three sisters Irene, Rose and Linda, along with a host of nieces, nephews and relatives and friends who will forever miss her.

Lucille was preceded in death by her beloved husband Peter L. Mckinney, her parents James Grier Sr and Thelma Grier and her brothers Closter, Raymond and Donald Grier.

Lucille Mckinney will be remembered for her strength, her elegance, her work ethic, her humor, and the love she poured into everyone she touched. Her legacy lives on through her family, friendships, and the unforgettable way showed up in the world.

The viewing will take place on January 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a service from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, both at Alvarez Funeraria Inc, located at 66 Passaic Ave, Passaic, NJ 07055. A second viewing is scheduled for January 24, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, also at Alvarez Funeraria Inc. The burial will occur at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07014, at 10:30 AM on January 24, 2026.
