Lynette Baskerville-Patterson

Lynette Baskerville-Patterson (39) of Clifton, passed away on Sunday, January 10th, 2016. Lynette Patterson was born Lynette Ruth Baskerville on March 18, 1976 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Lionel Baskerville and Gloria Jackson. Lynette was the oldest of 3 children. After the untimely loss of her parents Lynette went to live with her grandmother Ruth Baskerville, who preceded her in death. Lynette loved visiting her sister and brother Andrea and Lionel at Auntie Sharon's. After a short time, the siblings stopped referring to Sharon and Kenny as aunt and uncle, but affectionately as mom and dad. Sharon Smalls preceded her in death.

Lynette attended Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn. While attending high school Lynette was very independent. She had a job after school and worked very hard to balance both. After her time in high school Lynette was determined to build a life for herself by attaining various jobs and furthering her education. Lynette pursued a degree by attending Long Island University.

Lynette met her husband, Kenroy Patterson, in early 2003. Lynette loved to travel with Kenroy. Together they took many family vacations with their children, Kevin and Cymiah. Her most memorable vacation was their trip to Jamaica. She loved it so much, she didn't want to leave.

Lynette was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, but she was a fighter and won her battle with cancer. Lynette found a new lease on life and wanter more. She discovered her passion for cooking. She decided to continue her education by attending the University of Phoenix. Also in 2004, Lynette became the proud wife of Kenroy Patterson. Together with their children, they settled in New Jersey, where they added two more family members; their dogs, Jerzie and Pearl. She affectionately called them her babies.

Lynette's cancer came back, but she was ready for the fight. She faced it head on with the strength of her family and friends in her corner. She fought hard and never gave up. There were times she wasn't feeling her best, yet she still found the strength to comfort others.

Lynette Patterson entered the gates of heaven at the age of 39 on January 10, 2016 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Lynette is survived by her husband, Kenroy Patterson; their two children, Kevin and Cymiah; her dad, Kenneth Smalls; her sisters, Andrea and Ivory; brothers, Lionel, Shawn, and David; niece and nephew, Tamecka and Ayden; mother-in-law, Wilhel Peterson, sisters and brothers-in-law, Avelin, Vestel, Andrae, Wayne, and their families, her aunts and uncle, Helen, Gail, Andrea, and Tom; cousins, Danielle, Alea, Anastasia, Vanessa, Lisa, Sharon, Elaine, Dwayne, Donnell, James, Alex, Lloyd, Joseph, Darius, Kedar, Joseph B. and Christopher, Curtis Field and family; The Davis family, Jeff, Stephanie, Clarence, Tiffany and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 17th, 2016 from 3:00pm-6:00pm in Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ. Cremation is private.
