Margaret Ann Henry, lovingly called "Ann", was born August 26,1943 to the late Ruby Lee Henry McKissic and late Melton Lafayette Henry, in Macon-Bibb County, Georgia. She was the fifth child of eight children, termed "the sweetest person you could meet". She departed from this life on Monday, May 27, 2024, in Pequannock, New Jersey.
Margaret was educated by the Macon-Bibb County, Georgia public school system, graduating from high school in 1964. Thereafter, in 1965, Margaret alongside a few of her siblings, relocated to Passaic, New Jersey at the tender age of seventeen. Upon relocation, Margaret began to create and establish her life in New Jersey. It was within that time, she brought to life five beautiful children: Curtis, Christopher, Vanessa, Beverly and Aubrey.
In 1982, she gained long term employment with Joyce Leslie Clothing Corporation in Passaic, New Jersey; where she effortlessly gave 22 years of committed work.
Most knew Margaret unselfishly centered her life around raising her children. She worked diligently to be a notable woman who raised them to be respectful, independent, and well-rounded adults. Margaret prided herself on being a great reflection of her mother, Ruby Lee; as well as her southern roots. Often times, Margaret was a mom figure to those she connected with, through her guidance and genuine spirit.
Margaret was a true believer and walker with Christ. If you knew Margaret, you were bound to know Christ too! It was her natural essence to honor who she called "her Father" by continuing her spiritual journey through worship at her church home, Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church of Passaic, New Jersey. She became a dedicated member, and her love for Christ fully developed. Often times, Margaret would spark conversations with complete strangers, leaving them more spiritually full than they were during the initial encounter.
In 1995 Margaret relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and became an esteemed member and Deaconess at Greater Believing Faith Outreach Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia under the leadership of Pastor Sharon L. Bacon. Margaret also began employment with Trans America Printing Company in East Atlanta, Georgia until retiring in 2008.
In the year 2000, Margaret married her longtime partner and love, Joseph "Joe" Moon, whom she continued building a lifetime of love with.
In retirement, Margaret spent countless hours dedicated to charity, feeding the homeless, babysitting, caring for the neighborhood children and pouring out the same 'agape love" she carried within herself. Her love for Christ was the driving force which kept herself, family, and friends centered. This anchored living out her core values of always treating people with love and kindness, no matter what their walk may have been.
Margaret's joys in life included connecting with loved ones, talking to her siblings on the phone cooking, shopping, traveling, working in the church, doing puzzles and watching her favorite tv shows; The Bold and the Beautiful, Ellen and the show she adorably called WINNIE (The Wendy Williams Show). She also enjoyed watching Tyler Perry movies, the Georgia Bulldogs college football team and any NFL team who had a black quarterback. Above all, she loved reading her Bible, daily bread devotionals, and doing what she firmly stood on as just "being at peace"
Margaret was a caring, loving, and nurturing woman; who was always seen wearing a smile and carrying herself with regalness and grace. She was full of life, strong-willed, strong-minded, and definitely lived a full life without pain.
Margaret was preceded in death by her: mother, Ruby Lee Henry McKissic; father, Milton Lafayette Henry; sisters Irene "Sweetie" Milligan and Ruby Pitts; daughter, Vanessa Bowden and son, Curtis Bowden Sr.
Margaret leaves to cherish her love and memories: devoted husband Joseph "Joe" Moon of Atlanta, GA; her loving children: Christopher "Chris" Bowden (Rashida) of East Orange, NJ, Beverly "Bev" Bowden (Kasim) of Clifton, NJ, and Aubrey "Bernard" Bowden (Tonja) of Indian Trail, NC; three brothers: Melvin Henry (Patricia) of North Carolina, Clarence Henry (Rose) of Georgia and Wallace Henry (Johnnie Ann) of South Carolina; three sisters: Franel Henry of North Carolina, Brenda Henry of Georgia, Diane Clarke (Sammy) of Ohio; twelve enamored grandchildren: Rashod, Tyrone (Hena), Tiffanie, Joshua, Curtis Jr., Aubrey (Nicole), James, Justyn Quisan, Jared, Christopher and Jabriel; eight great-grandchildren: Tyier, Rei'Yana, Tyshon, Tyzhae, Tyrone Jr., Aziyah, Dallas and Dakoda; devoted nephew, Melvin Milligan; devoted nieces, Kim and Erica; committed Pastor and mentor, Sharon L.
