Maria Teresa Varas

Maria Teresa Varas, age 93, formerly of Paterson, NJ passed away on December 2nd, 2023. She was born on September 17, 1930, in Costa Rica and moved to the United States in 1962. Loving mother of, Violeta Mendez, Yvonne Fernandez, Jacqueline Valle Fernandez, Wenceslao Fernandez, Gustavo Fernandez and Wanda Torres.

She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Jasmine, Mario, Eduardo, Christopher, Diana, Stephen, Laura, Christina, Felicia, Shelby, Justin, Giancarlos and Angelique. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren and many others whom she took in and accepted as her own.

Teresa was the definition of someone who lit up the room with her bright eyes and beautiful smile. She will be missed dearly by her many friends, and family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 from 5:00pm-9:00pm in Funeraria Alvarez de Paterson, 267 Park Avenue, Paterson NJ. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7th, 2023 at 10:00am in St. Gerard's Church, 501 West Broadway, Paterson NJ. Cremation is private.
