Migdalia Amaro-Rodriguez

Migdalia Amaro-Rodriguez (68) of Union City, passed away on Friday, November 25th, 2016. Migdalia Amaro-Rodriguez lived a very interesting and fulfilling life. She was a wife, sister, aunt, cousin, mentor and good friend to many. She was born June 26, 1948 in Barrio Coqui, Aguirre, Puerto Rico to loving parents, the late Marcos Antonio Amaro and Maria Vazquez. Migdalia was the 4th child of twelve siblings; Carmen-Luz, Noemi, Marco Jr., Jose Orlando, Luis, Rosa, Nelson, Lourdes, Sonia, Miguel, and preceded in death by Aurea. She attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary, Escuela del Coqui, then graduated with honors and awards from Luis Munoz Rivera High School, in Salinas, Puerto Rico. After graduation, Migdalia worked as an English Teacher in Puerto Rico. In the 60's she moved to New York from Puerto Rico, where she attended Cosmetology School, Lehman College and Jersey City University in Jersey City, NJ. During Migdalia's life she was employed in various industries. She was a licensed cosmetologist and teacher. She also worked as a staffing coordinator at Lenox Hill Hospital for 30+ years and at Winston Staffing Agency. Migdalia was known affectionately as “Miggie”. Her gregarious personality was contagious and endeared her to many. She was a dedicated employee and made friends so easily. She had an enormous heart of gold and always had a kind word for everyone. While some may have seen her as stern and proper, she was funny, very caring and always willing to help those in need. Migdalia was an avid reader, loved to sing and was the best cook...she made the best Flan in the world. Miggie was a Devout Catholic and highly spiritual...She will be forever missed by her family,friends, and colleagues, but her spirit will live in their hearts to infinity. Migdalia is survived by her husband, Jose A. Rodriguez, siblings Carmen-Luz, Noemi, Marcos Antonio, Jose Orlando, Luis Alberto, Rosa Ivette, Nelson Osvaldo, Ana Lourdes, many nieces and nephews, cousins, Peyton Scott and friends Caroline Teodoru, Gwendolyn Mack, Linda Knight, and her Lenox Hill Hospital and Winston Staffing Agency family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1st, 2016 from 4:00pm-9:00pm in Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 2nd, 2016 at 9:30am in St. Therese's Church, 80 13th Avenue, Paterson NJ. Burial, to follow, 10:30am in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton NJ.
