Nilda Colon

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Nilda, our loving a devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on December 5, 2025. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Passaic, NJ. she was in her 85th year. She as born November 1, 1940, in Gurabo, PR, a daughter of the late Ramon and Ramona Colon. 

Nilda worked for Hoffman-La Roche Incorporated in Nutley, NJ for many years. She was also on the Board for Passaic Indians Old Timers Baseball League. In this role she wore many different hats, including but not limited to handling of the funds, and most importantly her favorite cooking  for the entire league, especially when teams were visiting from Puerto Rico.

Nilda Dedicated her life to her husband Pedro and her children. in Nilda's Free time she found joy on the dance floor dancing to all kinds of music. She also would not miss a week getting her hair done at Chin's every Saturday morning. Nilda enjoyed her Grandkids and when they would visit. She especially enjoyed when her Granddaughter Star would visit and walk through the door saying "Wela, hey girl" Her smile would light up the room. Nilda just enjoyed her life and everyone she touched. 

Nilda was Predeceased by her father and mother Ramon and Ramona Colon, her husband Pedro Griffin Figueroa, her granddaughter Melissa Ayala, her sisters Margo and Olga, and her brothers Paco and Papo Colon, Her son-in-law Percy Johnson. Survivors include her daughters Ruth Medina (George), Maritza Figueroa and Eileen Johnson (Tuly), her son Edwin Richie Figueroa; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her sister Sonia Laluz (Lolo); and a host of nieces and nephews and many cousins.  

Visitation services will be held at Alvarez Funeraria Inc, located at 66 Passaic Ave, Passaic, NJ, on December 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and again on December 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Following the visitation, a burial service will take place on December 12, 2025, at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton, NJ, starting at 10:30 AM.
