Noreen Elizabeth Scelfo

Noreen Elizabeth Scelfo (née Redmond), 86, of Rutherford, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20th, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jersey City, and resided in Rutherford all of her life.

After graduating from Rutherford High School in 1947, Noreen worked as a legal secretary in New York City. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Frank, and later became a very prominent inside saleswoman for Kierulff Electronics and Pioneer Electronics of Fairfield NJ. During her lifetime, Noreen truly enjoyed swimming, reading mystery novels, challenging herself with crossword puzzles while enjoying a cup of tea, watching holiday parades on TV, joyfully singing along to her favorite musicals, wintering in Hutchinson’s Island, FL , and summering in Long Branch, NJ. She was also an avid sports enthusiast and animal lover, specifically of boxers and bulldogs.

Pre-deceased by her parents, Howard Redmond and Clara Taylor. Survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Frank O. Scelfo, of Rutherford; 3 daughters, April Ray, of Rutherford, Dawn M. Virginio and her husband Aldo, of Woodland Park, and Heather J. Scelfo, of Rutherford; 1 sister, Janice Mallett, and her husband Gordon, of Rutherford; 2 granddaughters, Tiffany Taylor and Alanna Brooke Virginio, both of Woodland Park; 4 nieces, Pamela Mallett, of California, Patricia Knight, of Wyckoff, Cindy Feuss, of Glen Rock, and Cathy Mallett, of Rutherford. Will be dearly missed by many great nieces and nephews, cherished family friends and neighbors, her adoring and loyal caregiver “Nilsa”, as well as her most recent pride and joy “Dozer”, her baby bulldog.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 4:00pm-8:00pm in the Macagna-Diffily-Onorato Funeral Home, 41 Ames Avenue, Rutherford. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 10:00am in Sacred Heart Church, 324 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Entombment, to follow, at 11:15am in Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.
