Pedro Velasquez

Pedro Velasquez also known as Pedro Velasquez Espinoza (79) of Paterson, passed away on Monday, December 5th, 2016. Born in Tomacc, Castrovirreyna Province in Huancavekica, Peru to Desiderio Velasquez Paucar and Concepcion Espinoza Bellido. He emigrated to the United State of America in July 1973 and became an American Citizen on December 3rd, 1984. He then married his wife, Rosa Velasquez (nee Takayama) on June 5th, 1978 in Passaic, NJ, with whom she had her son, Vincent Velasquez. He graduated with honors from the Institute of Christian Economics and also studied in the Bergen Community College, as well as established his own company of exports. He belonged to different institutions like, Hermandad de Damas y Caballeros de San Martin de Porres, where he served as secretary; Senor de los Milagros de Nueva York; Peruvian Parade Inc., where he was one of the founders. He also was a very active, pioneer member of the Soka Gakkai International, our SGI world peace movement, practicing for 41 years. He poured his life into supporting his friends in faith, giving beautiful encourangement, fighting his hardest as a district leader and offering his home as a meeting venue for so many years. Through his selfless, heartfelt efforts, he raised many capable people and helped lay the foundation of the SGI here in the U.S. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13th, 2016 from 5:00pm-9:00pm in Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ. Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 at 11:30am in Locust Hill Cemetery, 168 North Sussex Street, Dover, NJ.
