Simeon Eladio Decena

Simeon Eladio Decena (91) of Passaic, passed away on Friday, March 17th, 2017. Born in Banica, Elias Piña, Dominican Republic to Tamires (Liriano) and Buenaventura Alberto Decena. He was the second oldest of six children. Eladio served in the Dominican Republic military during the 1940's as an officer. In 1965, Eladio emigrated to the United States where he united with his brothers and eventually began a long career in the trucking industry until 1988 when he relocated to the Dominican Republic, where he enjoyed his retirement and married Bartolina. Eladio loved to spend time with his large family which included many children and grandchildren. In 1993, he returned to Passaic to continue his retirement in the community where he lived for over 50 years. Eladio is survived by his wife, Bartolina; and his children Tamires (deceased), Noris, Josefina, Isa, Felix, Carlos, Elizabeth, Franklyn, Tehany, Edwin, Alberto, Carlos, Johanny, and Marleni and countless grandkids and great-grandkids; as well as his brothers Erotido, Juan Osias, and Alicia Decena. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20th, 2017 from 5:00pm-9:00pm in Funeraria Alvarez, 66 Passaic Avenue, Passaic NJ. Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 at 10:30am in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton NJ.
