Victor Objio Soto

Victor Fernando Objio Soto (85), who recently was living in Englewood, NJ, passed away on Thursday April 21, 2016. He was born in Bani, Dominican Republic on December 29, 1930 to Florencio Objio (Don Floro) and Altagracia Olimpia Soto (Dona Pimpa). He lived in the Dominican Republic until 1965 and then moved to New York City, where he worked for the International Longshoreman's Association as a Longshoreman in Brooklyn, NY. He worked there for many years until he retired and moved back to Santo Domingo, DR. His passion was politics and loved keeping up with local and international news. Throughout the years he was heavily involved in campaigning for his preferred political party from Dominican Republic called PRD ( Partido Revolucionario Dominicano). He loved listening to music (salsa, merengue, Spanish balads)...and loved to dance in his younger years. Among his favorite artists were: Julio Iglesias, Tito Rojas (Nadie es Eterno) and Johnny Ventura. He loved to watch sports (horse racing, boxing and Dominican and American baseball) He played dominos and was a member of a social/cultural club in Santo Domingo called Club Arroyo Hondo. He always kept well groomed. He loved drinking Cafe Santo Domingo (coffee) and enjoyed having a cup or two while chatting with his siblings, friends and neighbors. There was something about him that attracted people of all ages to become his friend and spend time with him. He will be greatly missed by his wife Melania ("Marina") of 59 years and his children: Raydiris (Francisco), Minerva (Carlos), Elisa (Stew), Victor Fernando (Arsenia) and Inocencio (Argentina). His grandchildren: Nicole, David, Carlos Valentin, Christian, Steven, Reamond, Aralisa, Fernando, Ariel, Wallissa and Nichols; His great grandchildren: Alan and Madison; His sisters: Gloria, Brigida, Rafaela, Agueda ("Rubia") and Carmen. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents: Florencio Objio ("Don Floro") and Altagracia Olimpia Soto ("Dona Pimpa") and his siblings: Guirran Aristoteles, Violeta Leonora, Manuel Florencio ("Cabeza") and Manuel Octavio ("Nino"). Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24th, 2016 from 6:30pm-9:00pm in Crossroads Free Methodist Church, 195 Piaget Avenue, Clifton NJ. Burial will take place in Cementerio Nacional de la Maximo Gomez, Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.
