William Eusebio Mateo Sr.

William Eusebio Mateo Sr., born on August 14, 1952 to parents Amado Mateo and Roselia Fernandez, in the Dominican Republic, and passed away on September 7, 2025 in St Clare's hospital in Dover, NJ.

William was one of several siblings which included Emmanuel Mateo, Asuncion Mateo, Julio Victor Fernandez (.. More be edited). From a young age he took care of his mother, providing for his family. He had a vivid and adventurous youth and young adulthood befriending people he remained friends with throughout his life time. He studied maintenance, plumbing and refrigeration vocationally. From the Dom. Republic he traveled to Puerto Rico, and had his first relationship and had his first daughter, Wilnerys Mateo. Though the relationship didn't last; he remained in contact with his daughter and her family for the rest of his life. He moved to the United States in the late 1970 to early 1980's to the city of Passaic NJ.

There, he eventually met his second relationship, which he settled down and had four children, Romelida Mateo, William Mateo Jr, Ronnie Mateo and Isabel Mateo. With the years that followed he became involved with the community, and became active member of the church, St Anthony de Padua. Work wise he always was involved with mechanics of any kind, and that led him to a career of building maintainace. He spent the following 30 years working managing and repairing mulitple buildings in the city of Passaic. Renting apartments and helping families that arrived to settle in a place of their own.

In the early 2000's William battled lukeima and won, entering in remission almost a year later, after a spiritual retreat, rest and recovery and a change for healthier lifestyle. From that experiance he made a promise to fight against his vices and be a better person. And from then on worked harder to be more chariable helpful, and kind. His second relationship ended and several years later he remarried one last time to which he had no more children.

However, being the father he was in his heart, William cared for the family his third spouse had; watching over them for next 20 years he remained with them. Suffering the lost of her passing in the beginning of 2024.

In June 2024 several months later after, William suffered a cardiac incident leaving him immobile and bedridden. From then on it was a long personal struggle that lasted one year and two months. From that point forward with he faced pain and suffering with a smile and inner strenght granted to him by God. In the morning of September 7th, being visited by family he gave good will and kisses to the nurse's staff with he came to care for, his step children, grandchildren, nieces nephews and his children, before finally closing his eyes later that same night around 8pm that evening.

William was a person, a man, that despite all of his vices, had a deep profound desire to be a good person. To leave behind blessings and have the world around him better than how he found it. A person of great example, a role model. A father. A child of God.

He returns to the arms of the Eternal father, where he can rest perpatually in peace.
